Hey All, We had a great meet up at Gist Lab on Tuesday 17th August. David has made great progress on the sweets4tweets project and we can see that we are now ready to look at the hopper issues to get the sweets actually being served. John came up with some great ideas for this. [...]

So who knows RUBY? At the shacknet meet up on August 17th at Gistlab I’d like to look at getting the RAD framework going and talking to an Arduino using RUBY.

Hey All, On Friday evening, 6pm-8pm, we will be at the Gistlab workin on the Sweets4Tweets project. This project is now at the stage where we are getting back search results from Twitter and the creative team have been working on designs for the sweet hopper and release mechanism (some prototypes in Lego). Thanks to all who came to SHACKNET on Thursday 29th. The night was trurned over to actually doing stuff rather than talking about stuff (and eating lots of sweets). The sweets4tweets project took hold with two groups taking on the challenge. One group was looking at the Arduino code to get the tweets and work [...]

Does anyone have any experience of writing libraries for Arduino? I want to string handling library that would make it easy to build up strings, find the position of one string within another, see if one string exists within another, that sort of thing. Any ideas?

Yeah, you can by kits for DIY shields. I keep meaning to by one or two to get me going.
In reply to - Andy Kirby posted on the forum topic Shecknet meetings in the group ShackNet: On acquiring Arduino Kit there is always the option of holding Build Your Own sessions and the potential for Group Buy-in. Great for skills building……. I have a single sided PCB sanguino style board that is easy and relatively cheap (Kicad). Any of the other [...] · View -

We’re looking for a barcode reader for a project for the gistlab. If anyone has a spare one they can donate or you know where we could lay our hands on one it would be most appreciated. Thanks.
At the risk of looking more stupid than usual, make one they are not that clever.
Great idea. Unfortunately it’s beyond my electronics knowledge at the moment so recycling an old one is much easier/quicker. Just need to find one
Must admit recycling is cheaper and quicker, good luck with the search.
The actual reader part is a dead ringer for an arduino project.
