RepRap: 3 months, 3 weeks agoHello RepRappers
Sorry I couldn’t make the last meeting, I was sick and definitely 1dimensional.
Hope things are progressing build wise.Still tinkering with Arduino connected to the occult world.

ShackNet: 1 year, 7 months agoCouldn’t get to Shacknet meet-up – I’ve broken a leg. But the good news is I’ve been reworking some old projects: Auduino and Arduino Punk Console (the one in the icecream tub and the other one in the cd cake)
I had the idea to make the Auduino play tunes using the APC code but decided to add extra knobs & switches for more sonic attack and…[Read more] -

RepRap: 1 year, 8 months ago ago · updated 1 year, 8 months ago agoI notice the MakerBot people have started an ”Ideas Torrent” to generate developments. The top idea seems to be to build a better Skeinforge – (the slice up your models into a printable form app.) All this has to be good for the wider 3D printiverse, IMO.

RepRap: 1 year, 8 months ago ago · updated 1 year, 8 months ago agoHey Andy, just doing some research on the reprap controllers here and I stumbled on your min644p page – excellent stuff.
I’m going to get the Dremel out and get started tonight.-
Yeah thats the board, chip and xtal I gave you last week. Most excellent. I have spent the last couple of days collecting the .STL file together for a mini-mendel and sending them off for printing. So in a week or so hopefully I can be following you. Nophead is doing the printing.

I’m thinking this board would be great for ArtBot version 3. Gotta make another.
BTW the pads are for 0.8mm holes, right? Just bought some new ones – mine were all snapped from the last time I tried this malarky.-
If you are making another download and print the layouts from my blog/docs on line as I increased the pad sizes.
I drilled my boards with .6 for the component leads and .8 for the pin strips. May need to go a little larger than .8 depends on how well the holes line up.
Yeah I go through board drills at a fast rate. Having a mini drill press…[Read more]

RepRap: 1 year, 9 months ago ago · updated 1 year, 8 months ago agoGood News. I found the copies of Everyday Practical Electronics with the RapMan review. It also goes over the 3D design/making/printing process. So I hereby donate them to the group.
FYI the issues are: December 2009, January 2010 and February 2010. I tried to get my hands on PDF versions but drew a blank in some of the more dubious parts of…[Read more]

The RepRap Research Foundation has a single purpose:
To promote research in self-replicating manufacturing systems
and to distribute the results of that research freely to everybody using open-source licensing. -

RepRap: 1 year, 9 months agoRecycle milk cartons into RepRap fodder.
I came across this post on the MakerBot forum: blog.makerbot.com/2010/08/03/recyclebot-makes-hdpe-for-your-makerbot-from-milk-jugs/
I’m not big on plastics or jargon (HDPE? is that the same stuff they make IT landfill from?) but this whole idea is great. -

Great for […] ViewTell me about it. I totted up to add wireless (XBee) to my robot would be £20 for a radio module – so that’s £40 for send and receive plus another £20 (each) for a shield to plug the module and Arduino together. Of course Mr Mean would never fork out that much when he could make do with a really long USB lead he found in a box at Access Space.

Yes there are a couple of variants in the works. Super Skein and Red Snapper. These are probably worth looking at too. For folk using the Bits from Bytes kits ie Rapman the usual CAM software package is Axon which can be down loaded from the BfB website.
