I received an email today that the ManageWP team will:

“be spending significant resources to clear up all bugs from the product and introduce some new features in December.”

Sounds like a formal version and the self hosted version may not be far away!

So ManageWP has finally been realised as a self hosted version! Woohoo!

However for those of you who recognise how powerful this tool is but are concerned about storing all your usernames and passwords in the free hosted version, there’s a price to pay… a full $6000 a year and $3000 a year thereafter! See the email below which I received after enquiring about pricing.

Is this potentially the most expensive WordPress plugin ever? I couldn’t work out how you’d ever make this work with a free version in the wild, not like you could charge for it but today, they have launched a spangly new website which is asking you to feedback on how much you’re willing to pay when it finally launches. I still think this could be hugely useful but it looks increasingly more like a cost benefit assesment would rule this plugin out of my toolbox.

    Hello Chris

Thank you for your interest in ManageWP self hosted.

Currently we offer the corporate license which includes rights to run ManageWP at your own company, managing unlimited sites, product updates and support. And it is very easy to set up, basically you just need a WordPress installation.

In the promotion period this license costs $6,000 ($3,000 yearly renewal). Alternately we have a license for managing up to 100 sites and the cost is $3,000 ($1,500).

Let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding the pricing or the service.

    Best regards,

Our WP Remote (wpremote.com) is a similar service, it’s not self hosted but the hosted version doesn’t require you to enter passwords or usernames.
