We had a meeting last night with some of the user group leads to discuss their needs, GIST needs, communications and the like and I for one found it very blimming useful.

One suggestion re: the monthly meet up we have (GIST Mag) was that it would be good to make clear behavioural norms we expect in order for it to run well and be an enjoyable experience for attendees and presenters.

Specifically, starting on time or communicating why it’s not (if it doesn’t) would be appreciated, that’s our bad and we will try to be clearer in future. This month, we’ll be starting at 7 so if you can try to have your tea and be with us for then that would be great. Please remember, we’re in the lab (http://thegisthub.net/about/) this month as DocFest will be on (so you might need to order earlier than usual the Showroom or Rutland for a bite beforehand).

Also, we would appreciate people NOT speaking when others are presenting, we have asked before but we will be reinforcing the message over the coming months so please do observe this courtesy.

We may play about with the layout over the next few months but for this month, we’d like to trial a simpler (for us at short notice) approach that draws heavily on much of our childhood conditioning via party games. That’s right, we’ll be playing music when you can talk and turning it off, when we’d like you to stop!

This month (unless you can really rise to this challenge!) we’ll be using ‘Music from the laptop of Hannah’ and as such, we can’t promise quality or consistency. Next month, we’d like you to take up our Wooing Approach Challenge (WAC) and make us a mix-tape/ mix-USB to play.

    Fancy it?
