The GIST Magazine is a gathering of folks involved or interested in all forms of creative, digital and geek culture. This month includes:
- Physical Digital: Practical SketchUp
Insights from Richard Allsebrook on using SketchUp as a prototyping tool for solving real-world problems in the virtual space, and then bringing them to life back in the real world. Complete with real-world models you can touch! - Collaborative Innovation: Pulling Together the FedEx Way
A look back on how TechnoPhobia made slack time to get the whole company working together in teams to explore and devise a variety of internal solutions in a day. With Innovation Director Chris Dymond. - Critical Engagement: Big Society
A heads-up and the lowdown on the latest ‘next big thing,’ with NewStart Magazine‘s Julian Dobson - Pass It On: Robot / Lizard … You Decide!
Picking up the mini-feature challenge this month is Tim Cooper from Team Cooper. Will you be next? - Opportunities: for mobile and Flash developers
- UserGroup News: PHP, WordPress, RepRap, Mobile Developers and more
We’re also thoroughly stoked to raise a glass to Achordus, who are picking up the tab for the first drink for registered participants. Cheers!
Do any of these ring true for you?
- Passionate about technology or what it can do for us?
- Design it, make it, build it, share it?
- Invent, innovate or create social change with it?
- Play with it, have fun with it, or simply consume it?
Join us for an informal and infectious mix of grassroots innovation, social action and technology. Get The GIST on the first Wednesday of every month from 7pm.
This month is a change of venue: we’re in the GIST Lab for one month only. As always, entry is free, but space is limited, so please do register for a place.
The GIST Magazine incorporates GeekUp Sheffield and features a range of content drawn from the projects, groups and activities of the GIST Community and the wider grassroots technology scene. If you’d like to share something at the Magazine, pick up a Contributor ticket or get in touch. The GIST Lab is a community collaboration space operated by The GIST Foundation in partnership with the Showroom Workstation.
