The GIST Magazine: Volume 1 Issue 2

1 July 2010 in Event Listings

The GIST Magazine is a gathering of folks involved or interested in all forms of creative, digital and geek culture. This month includes:

  • Experiments in Development: Promiscuous Pair Programming
Safe and fun, but could it transform your team behaviours, product delivery and organisational structure? The experiment was conducted by Patchspace founder Ashley Moran, with Thoughtworks Consultant Marc Johnson and others.
  • Eye for Design: What Do Women Want?
Insights from the Creative Director of Lovelife, Nina Hunter.
  • Video Feature: Riding The Web
No need to reinvent the wheel.  Let Grzegorz Kozakiewicz help you review the purpose of your equipment.
  • Off the Shelf: Slack
A review of Tom De Marco’s seminal book with Chris Murray, from the University of Sheffield’s Epigenesys.
  • Hardwired: Sweets for Tweets from The Timelord: a ShackLab preview.

  • Passionate about technology or what it can do for us?
  • Design it, make it, build it, share it?
  • Invent, innovate or create social change with it?
  • Play with it, have fun with it, or simply consume it?

Join us for an informal and infectious mix of grassroots innovation, social action and technology.  Get The GIST on the first Wednesday of every month.

Participation is free, but space is limited, so do register for a place.

The GIST Magazine is produced and curated by The GIST Foundation and incorporates GeekUp Sheffield and features a range of content drawn from the projects, groups and activities of the GIST Community and the wider technology scene. If you’d like to share something at the Magazine, pick up a Contributor ticket or get in touch.
